A Dixon woman who’s running for state representative has some ideas that not a lot of people have heard of. Democrat Amy Davis says the ideas are new to her too, so she’d like to explore them before committing to them.
One has to do with filling empty store space with indoor farms and technology learning centers. Another idea is for a stock exchange transaction tax to raise revenue for the state’s needs. And another is for a state bank to lend money to people and small businesses.
Davis says she’d like to see a $15 per hour minimum wage.
Davis thinks the state probably could cut spending to help save money. But it shouldn’t cut social services.
Davis is hoping to unseat Dixon Republican Tom Demmer. The district is the 90th House District which comes into northern LaSalle County.
