St. Rep. Long loses Republican caucus support, denies sexual harassment claim

The Illinois House Republican organization is withdrawing its support for Streator St. Rep. Jerry Long. A statement from House Republican Leader Jim Durkin’s spokeswoman Eleni Demertzis says since the Labor Day weekend, the House Republican Organization had a third party investigate allegations against Long. And Wednesday, the organization decided to withdraw support, restrict Long’s access to the caucus resources, and recommend he step down.

The Capitol Fax is saying there were allegations of sexual harassment. Long denies that.

Long says the Republican organization pulling its support shows that he’s not a tool of the party or Gov. Rauner.

Long is facing Democrat Lance Yednock in the November election.
