The person who filed a harassment complaint against St. Rep. Jerry Long says there was an incident of physical harassment.
In a statement released by Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin’s office, the alleged victim also says there was verbal abuse and abuse of power daily resulting in a hostile work environment.
The statement calls Long’s denial of his alleged actions troubling and asks him to resign. The accuser also says they hope that Long will seek the help he needs.
The House Republican Caucus withdrew support from Long after an investigation into the alleged harassment and also called for his resignation.
Long told WCMY Thursday that the complaint against him was because he is a demanding boss and that he has no plans of stepping down.
He says the lack of support from the House Republicans shows that he’s no one’s puppet.
Rep. Long has not yet returned a request for comment on the statement from the alleged victim.
