RURAL VARNA – Jack Snook rushed for 136 yards and four touchdowns on only five carries for Marquette (7-0, 4-0), setting up a de facto conference championship meeting with Rockford Christian (5-2, 3-0) in Week 8.

Logan Komater, Hunter O’Dell, Preston Aukland and Jay Scott also found the end zone for the Crusaders on Friday night. Eric Donahue recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown as well.

Geneseo 50, Ottawa 3

OTTAWA – Kyle Szewczuk connected on a 27-yard field goal for the Pirates (0-7, 0-3), but that was it as Ottawa lost for the 14th consecutive game.

Brett Galletti accumulated 151 yards on 12 of 29 passing with two interceptions in Friday’s loss.

Watseka 22, Seneca 16

SENECA – Logan Bruss scored on an 8-yard scamper with 7:25 remaining Friday night to give the Fighting Irish (3-4, 2-3) a 16-14 lead. But Justin Bunting hauled in a 35-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Quinn with only 24.8 seconds remaining to give the Warriors (4-3, 2-2) the victory.

Ken Sangston also scored for Seneca, which will need to win its remaining two games to become playoff eligible.

DeKalb 50, La Salle-Peru 8: The Barbs (6-1) clinched a playoff berth while pushing the Cavaliers (3-4) to the brink of elimination.

Lisle 23, Streator 20: The Lions (7-0) kept their undefeated season alive and eliminated the Bulldogs (2-5) from postseason contention.

Sycamore 17, Morris 7: The Spartans (5-2, 2-2) became postseason eligible and are likely to qualify on points should they fail to win again. Morris (3-4, 0-3), meanwhile, must win its remaining two games to secure a playoff berth.

Plano 26, Sandwich 20: The Reapers (4-3, 3-1) sent Sandwich (3-4, 1-3) to its fourth straight loss. Sandwich has to win its remaining games to become postseason eligible.

Monmouth-Roseville 46, Saint Bede 18: The Bruins (3-4, 1-3) must win out to have a chance at the postseason.

Princeton 49, Kewanee 3: The Tigers (4-3, 3-1) closed in on playoff eligibility with a road Three Rivers Conference win.

Stillman Valley 28, Mendota 15: The Trojans fell to 0-7 on the season.

Sterling Newman, Hall 0: In a game that was postponed to Saturday, the Comets (6-1) locked up a playoff bid while the Red Devils (4-3) remain one win shy of postseason eligibility.

Newark wins Little 10 Conference Tournament

SOMONAUK – Newark knocked off Earlville in Friday night’s final, 25-10, 25-17.

Serena dropped the third place game to Indian Creek, 16-25, 25-21, 25-10.

Hiawatha won the consolation championship with a 25-22, 25-18 win over LaMoille-Ohio.

Somonauk 8-0 Serena

SOMONAUK – In the IHSA Class 1A Mendota Regional quarterfinals Saturday, the eighth-seeded Bobcats knocked out the No. 10 Huskers. Somonauk will next face No. 1 Mendota in the regional semifinals Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

Shepherd splits at Peotone

PEOTONE – The eighth-grade Lady Rams (9-0) rallied to remain undefeated, winning 22-21. Ryleigh Stehl had 10 points for Shepherd, Kellcey DeMoss added six points and Saryia Furlow added four points in the victory.

Shepherd (8-1) lost the seventh grade game, 24-22. Cheyenne Joachim finished with 11 points, while Hannah Waddell tallied six points and Haley Waddell finished with four points.
