Reddick Library’s board gives the director good marks one year into the job

Molly DeBernardi has been the Reddick Library director for just over a year and the library board has given her a good review. She started working for Reddick part time in 2008 and full time in 2010. And she became the director when Kathy Clair retired last year.

One of DeBernardi’s near-future goals is to update the library’s web site. There could be videos and live-streaming of library programs.

Sometime soon, library employees will be able to notarize documents for the public.

One of the things DeBernardi is happiest about is starting a reading group at the LaSalle County Juvenile Detention Home.

DeBernardi says a lot of the juvenile home kids say they don’t like reading, but she feels it’s always a matter of finding the right book to spark their interest. And it’s a thrill when such a teen starts recommending books to other teens.
