Area high school students sit with County Board during solar energy farm votes

Students from several LaSalle County high schools got to see the County Board in action Thursday for Student Government Day. After some debate, a majority of board members approved special use permits for two solar energy farms near Mendota.

Gianna Lopez from LaSalle-Peru High School felt that was the wrong decision.

Daisy Vasquez of LaSalle-Peru High School likes how it was settled though.

Jakob Kretzmer of Ottawa High School asked to go to the event.

Students from Serena, Mendota, Leland, Earlville, Seneca, and Marquette were also there. Most of the students were in the County Board room during the meeting. Some went with other county officials to their offices to find out what they do.
