County hiring temporaries to help during Auditor’s Office crisis

LaSalle County Board Chairman Jerry Hicks wants everyone to know the county’s employees and vendors will be paid. To help make sure that happens, the county government is hiring two temporary employees to help during the Auditor’s Office crisis.

And the county’s paying the firm that installed the accounting system to train the temporaries. The chairman’s office, Treasurer Jim Spelich, and the human resources department took over the Auditor’s Office last week.

Two deputy auditors are charged with authorizing for themselves around $3,000 in unearned overtime pay. They and Auditor Jody Wilkinson are off the job but still being paid.
