The people involved in the harvest celebration west of Sheridan Saturday don’t just raise money to support third world agriculture. Project Leader Paul Youngstrum says some of them travel to the countries they’re raising money for. That gives valuable insights into what they need and what they don’t.
So the Foods Resource Bank focuses on sending money so farmers can buy animals, seed, and equipment they want. Youngstrum says the farmers in developing countries don’t want handouts anyway. They want to be able to sustain themselves so they don’t always need help.
The harvest celebration is from 10am to 3pm Saturday, October 13 at the Dau farm on N. 42nd Rd. west of Sheridan.
