Falconry no longer acceptable use in Marseilles residential code

The Marseilles City Council on Wednesday approved a new residential zoning code that dictates what can built around people’s homes.

City Attorney Rich Burton says one goal is to simplify things.

Buildings like schools or apartment complexes with more than four dwellings will now will require a special permit to be in a residential neighborhood.

One special use of land no longer allowed under the new code?

Burton and Mayor Jim Hollenbeck have been working on an update to the code for several months.
