NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Anthony Davis had 32 points and 15 rebounds and the New Orleans Pelicans ended a six-game skid with a 107-98 victory over the Chicago Bulls. Davis also blocked four shots in his best game since spraining his right elbow nearly two weeks ago. Jrue Holiday added 17 points and 10 rebounds for New Orleans. Zach LaVine led Chicago with 22 points.

CHICAGO (AP) — Max Struss and Paul Reed threw down back-to-back dunks late in the second half as DePaul emphatically slammed the door shut in a 80-58 win over Bethune-Cookman in a season opener. Struss finished with 25 points, Reed scored 11. Struss swooped in from the wing and leaped for a pretty alley-oop pass from Eli Cain for a two-handed dunk, and Cain flicked a pass to Reed on the baseline for a reverse one-hander a minute later, the pair of exclamation points sparking an 11-2 run over the next 3:18.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Despite a wild stretch in two easy wins Mitchell Trubisky has the Bears’ offense where it needs to be. Chicago is leading the NFC North. Trubisky is maintaining his focus on the new offense despite mounting criticism.

CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) — The rebuilding Chicago White Sox have extended manager Rick Renteria’s contract. General manager Rick Hahn declined to give specifics other than the extension goes past 2019, when Renteria’s original three-year deal was set to end.

CHICAGO (AP) — Jeremy Colliton is the 38th head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks, replacing Joel Quenneville after the former NHL defenseman was fired. Colliton goes from Chicago’s American Hockey League affiliate to the NHL’s youngest head coach at 33. Chicago has dropped five in a row heading into Thursday’s home game against Carolina.

PEORIA, Ill. (AP) — Koch Bar scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Bradley beat Division II University of Wisconsin-Parkside 74-58. Bar was 7 of 8 from the field for the Braves. Elijah Childs added 17 points, eight rebounds and four steals, Dwayne Lautier-Ogunleye had 12 points, eight rebounds and four steals and Darrell Brown chipped in 10 points with four rebounds.
