Multiple fire departments put out Utica house fire

Eight fire departments helped Utica fire fighters put out a house fire on S. Clark St. last night. Utica Fire Chief Ben Brown says heavy smoke was coming from the back of the house a few minutes before 8pm.

The fire department used the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System to get help from other departments. Other departments there were LaSalle, Oglesby, Wallace, Peru, Mendota, Troy Grove, Naplate, and Tonica. It took an hour to get the fire under control and fire fighters were there for three more hours.

The State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause. The home’s owners were not home.
