Ottawa applying for Green St. elevation grant

Ottawa city officials believe it will cost around $4 million to raise Green St. A Federal Emergency Management Agency grant would pay for up to 75% of it. The City Council agreed last week to apply for it.

The east side street that’s prone to flooding could be raised eight to ten feet to get it above the 100-year floodplain. That’ll make the east side less vulnerable to being flooded closed. There’s only one other way in and out of the east side.
