WRESTLING

Ottawa 51, Rochelle 22

ROCHELLE – Austin Howard, Riley Hanson, Cole Flores, Luke Fleming, Bradley Ruger, Austin Stanley, Michael Morse, Nick Stehl and Jaxson Callahan had the victories for the Pirates (12-7, 2-2), who were competing in their final NIB12 Conference meet.

In the JV match, Ivy Jones rallied for a last-second win.

Streator loses two at I-8 quad

MANTENO – The Bulldogs lost to Manteno (48-12) and to Herscher (42-36). Rafael Pantoja, Josh Carter, Seth Miles, Tre McKinnie, Walker McClellan and Brian Smith won their matches for Streator.

Seneca splits at Peotone quad

PEOTONE – The Fighting Irish lost to Wilmington, 41-27. Jackson Beene, Gavin Robertson and Jacob Hampton had victories by pinfall for Seneca, while Joey Hatz (4-1) and Wilson Widman (forfeit) also earned wins.

Seneca (18-11) bounced back with a 57-18 triumph over Westmont. Ben Virgo, Bryan Hernandez, Beene, Hatz and Nathan Elliott pinned their opponents. Widman, Owen Feiner and Edgar Reyes won by decision, and Luke Sangston, Cody Carvell and Jacob Hampton added wins by forfeit.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Serena 52, Hiawatha 19

SERENA – Katie Baker led the Lady Huskers (10-14, 4-2) with 19 points and nine rebounds. Kallie Cantlin added seven points and four steals, and Malachi Staton finished with seven points in the Little 10 Conference contest.

OGLESBY – Kewanee graduate Blair Bullock poured in 18 points to lead the Eagles (9-7). Marquette alum Maddie Dougherty contributed 10 points in the win.

8TH GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL

Shepherd 54, Mendota Northbrook 46

UNDATED – Levi Sheehan poured in 23 points as the Rams (17-3) won the Starved Rock Conference Tournament championship. Aiden Mucci added 11 points and 11 rebounds, Conner Price scored eight points, Dillan Quatrano pitched in six points, and Branden Aguirre totaled four points and eight rebounds.

Marquette splits with Marseilles

UNDATED – The Lady Knights’ eighth graders defeated Marseilles, 25-6, 25-19. Eva McCallum had 10 points, eight aces, three kills and three digs for Marquette. Lindsey Kaufmann added nine points, six aces, three kills and four assists. Kaylee Killelea contributed nine points, four aces and four assists. Also for Marquette, Abbey Thumm had two assists, Gabby Hortega tallied two kills and Darby Morganflash posted three digs.

Marquette lost the seventh grade match, 25-13, 27-25. Sarah Duchon had eight points and four aces in the loss. Natalie Dyche finished with five points, three aces and three assists. Grace Dose, Nora Rinearson and Gwen Verona posted two kills apiece, while Lilly Craig and Emma Rinearson each tallied three digs.
