Three nuclear power plants are in David Welter’s Illinois House District, and there are several state parks in and near it. The Morris Republican believes his familiarity with them will help him do well as the spokesman for the Illinois House Energy and Environment Committee.
He’s responsible for leading the efforts of the minority caucus and questioning witnesses who testify at committee hearings. And he negotiates with the committee chairperson to reach a bipartisan consensus.
Welter will also serve on the Public Utilities, Transportation: Vehicles and Safety, Public Safety Appropriations, State Government Administration, and Capital Appropriations committees.
