The LaSalle County Health Department wants you to think about your own heart this Valentine’s Day, especially women.
Health Educator Leslie Dougherty says February is American Heart Month.
Dougherty says people should find out from their doctors what risks they have and then take steps to reduce them.
Controlling blood pressure, cholesterol, and maintaining a healthy weight are ways to reduce the risk of heart disease.
Dougherty also suggests knowing the signs of a heart attack including chest pain, shortness of breath, and skipped heartbeats.
People are encouraged to wear red on Fridays in February to raise awareness of heart disease.
