ROOTS with ROBB: ZZ Top

ROOTS with ROBB: ZZ Top

“That Little Ol’ Band From Texas” gets the Roots treatment today.  Like many others, ZZ Top is a tale of two different bands, the meat & potatoes blues rock of the 70s, and the excess of the 80s.  The excess (synthesizers, classic videos with classic cars and girls) took them to a whole new level of super stardom, but today its the 70s blues rock core that remains.  Well that, and the beards, all three of them.  Two physical beards on both guitarist Billy Gibbons and bassist Dusty Hill, and the drummer who’s name is Frank BEARD.  The three have been together for 50 years!
