THURSDAY ROUNDUP: Snook named AP Second Team All-State


Snook selected AP All-State

UNDATED – Jack Snook of Marquette has been named to the Associated Press All-State Team by a statewide panel of sportswriters and broadcasters.

Snook, a Second Team selection in Class 1A, was sensational during his senior season, averaging 20.4 points per game. He led Marquette to a 28-3 record and a Class 1A regional title, crossed the 1,000-point plateau at the Marseilles Holiday Tournament, and hit a half-court shot at the buzzer to defeat rival Seneca in the regular season finale.

Also locally, Brett Myre of Newark is a Class 1A Honorable Mention.


Marquette wins IESA Regional

MAZON – Marquette defeated regional host Mazon-Verona-Kinsman, 25-15, 25-14, to win the IESA Class 1A M-V-K Regional championship.

The Lady Knights will play LaSalle Trinity Catholic in the Thornton Wolcott Sectional on Monday. Trinity defeated Wallace in the Streator St. Michael Regional final, 21-25, 25-15, 25-19.
