Jerry L Dobyns, 79, of Northville Township (Sheridan) Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois.

Funeral Services will be held at 7 pm, Monday, March 18 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Roy Frye officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, prior to services, at the funeral home.

Jerry was born December 28, 1939 in Aurora Illinois to parents, F.O. (Othello) Dobyns and Ruth Adoleen Dobyns. Jerry worked hard all of his life at whatever he did be it his work or pleasure. In his early years, he enjoyed bowling, playing slow pitch softball, fishing, and camping. Jerry retired from Caterpillar, after 35 years, in 1991. After retirement, he began his true career of antiquing, especially at the Sandwich Antique Mart, with his wife Karen. Together, with his wife, he was a member of the Gleaners Club. Jerry was a life-long fan of the Chicago Bears. He loved antiquing, garage sales, traveling, telling stories, his cats, attending plays and musicals, spending time with friends and family, watching the wildlife on his property, especially the deer, and maintaining his property and earth home of 40 years.

Jerry is survived by his four children, Robert (Shelia) Dobyns of TX, Kim Dobyns of Leland IL, Derek Dobyns of Leland IL, and Tony (Beth) Dobyns of AL; grandchildren, Stephen Dobyns, Matthew Dobyns, Jonathan Dobyns, Edward Ohligschlager, Sam Ohligschlager, Alexandra Ohligschlager, Jordan Dobyns, Jase Dobyns, Christopher Dobyns and Jessica Dobyns; great-grandchildren, Stephen Dobyns Jr., Ashton Dobyns, Bryce Dobyns, Jericho Dobyns, Conrad Ohligschlager, Allen Ohligschlager, Sanoni Ohligschlager and Charlotte Ohligschlager; stepsons, Gary (Donna) Hughes of MD and Michael (Niiparchawee) Hughes of VA; step-grandchildren, Aaron, Abby, Ben, and Andy Hughes. He was preceded in death by his wife Karen Dobyns; parents F.O. Dobyns and Adoleen Dobyns; and three brothers, Robert Dobyns, Roland Dobyns and Russell Dobyns.
