In the next couple months, Ottawa residents will get letters telling them again about the electric aggregation or bulk buying electric rate program. The city is going with Constellation Energy.
City Commissioner Wayne Eichelkraut doesn’t recommend it, but he says people can take their electric rates from other providers. He says he’s heard a lot of complaints over the years from people who’ve signed up with electric rate sellers who go door to door and then were disappointed.
Eichelkraut says about 83% of Ottawa residents stay with the city’s choice. Most of the rest use Ameren Illinois for their rates.
