LaSalle County Deputy Auditors Pamela Wright and Tori Artman want a special prosecutor in the overtime pay theft case against them.
They argue that LaSalle County State’s Attorney Karen Donnelly has a vendetta against the auditor’s office over denied reimbursements and that her office initiated the investigation.
A court filing also says that Ottawa police officers showed up to interview Auditor Jody Wilkinson just a half hour after she and Donnelly had an argument over the reimbursements.
First Assistant State’s Attorney George Mueller says that the investigation into the overtime pay theft case was initiated when the County Human Resource Department turned over inconsistent time sheets to the State’s Attorney’s Office.
Mueller also says Wilkinson was wrong not to reimburse Donnelly for a copy of the “Diagnostic and Statistical Manuel of Mental Disorders” which was used for a case.
A court filing from this week says that Donnelly has no control over the Ottawa Police Department’s schedule so it’s not up her when it conducts investigations.
