Morris State Sen. Sue Rezin’s second attempt to pass a bill allowing the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to charge parking fees at Starved Rock State Park failed again Thursday by just a vote.
Rezin says her goal with the bill is to take care of the park which sees millions visitors each year.
The bill fell short by one vote on Wednesday too.
Rezin says a sticking point in the first attempt to pass the bill was that LaSalle County residents would be exempt from paying parking fees.
EDIT: an earlier version of this story said the Illinois Dept. of Transportation would charge the parking fee. We regret the error.
