Donald E. Muffler, 88 of Seneca, IL passed away Friday April 12, at Pleasant View.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm. Tuesday April 16, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Private funeral services will be held.
Don was born May 10, 1930, in Morris, IL. to Albert and Margaret (Mettille) Muffler. He married Mary Ann Lukach on February 20, 1954 at St. Stephens Church in Streator, IL.
Don grew up on a farm between Verona and Seneca, IL. Graduating from Mazon High School in 1948. He farmed his entire life in the Ransom, Seneca area. Shortly after graduation he purchased a hay bailer and his first of many trucks. Bailing hay and straw locally and hauling grain, gravel, and limestone. For many years he also operated several high-clearance sprayers working for area farmers. Don truly enjoyed working for and visiting with everyone. He belonged to the Midwest Truckers Association for over 30 years and was also a member of the La-Salle County Farm Bureau, serving on the board of directors for 20 years. Don was a trustee on the Brookfield Township Board for 30 years and co-hosted along with three life-time friends and neighbors the 1997 Farm Progress Show. Don enjoyed nostalgia tractor shows, collecting antique tractors and attending tractor pulls.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; four children, Don Jr. (Debbie), Dave (Jan), Dan (Becky), Doug (Kim); five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and ten step-great-grandchildren; and his nieces Bonnie Daniher Cook, and Nancy Daniher (Dayle) Van Alstine.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Arlene Daniher Green, and a nephew Jim Daniher.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
