The LaSalle County State’s Attorney’s Office is going after a big drug maker for the opioid addiction problem. State’s Attorney Karen Donnelly filed a suit against Purdue Pharma this week, claiming it misled people about the safety and effectiveness of addictive pain killers. She says the company owners lined their pockets while people were hospitalized and died.
Last summer, the LaSalle County Board signed on with a national law firm to join with other local governments across the country in such a suit. We’ve asked Donnelly if that process will still continue, but we haven’t heard back.
