Bishop Jenky conducts ceremony for St. Mary’s Shrine where the Naplate church was

The bell from St. Mary’s Church in Naplate rang Sunday where the church used to be and where St. Mary’s Shrine is now. Bishop Daniel Jenky says he’s pleased with how beautiful it is.

And he thought it appropriate to be there on Mother’s Day.

The shrine looks like a church and is built with many items from the church torn down after the tornado two years ago. Bill Mucci tells what items were saved from St. Mary’s Church for reuse in the shrine: the statue of Our Lady, altar, Stations of the Cross, stained glass, a stainless steel cross, wood from the pews, and the bell.
