The LaSalle County Health Department is asking people to take care of stagnant water on their property.
Health Educator Jenny Barrie says it’s to help keep the mosquito population in check.
If there’s standing water that’s been there for a week or so that can’t be dumped, like in a ditch, Barrie says to call the health department.
There are also products available to kill mosquitoes in their larval stage that can be added to water.
Mosquitoes spread West Nile Virus which can be dangerous to the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
