Marquette 8, Hall 7 (8 innings)
OTTAWA – Logan Komater hit a walk-off double, his third and hit and third RBI of the day, to lift the Crusaders in a battle of State qualifiers Saturday.
Jack Snook (RBI) and Nate Melvin each had two hits for Marquette (26-1), who scored four runs in the first inning but could not hold the lead. Luke Couch (2-0) pitched 2 2/3 innings of two-hit, shutout relief to earn the win.
Marquette opens IHSA Class 1A Dwight Regional play with a semifinal contest Wednesday.

Serena 9, Hiawatha 2
SERENA – Riley McNelis was dominant Friday, tossing six innings of four-hit, one-run ball for the Huskers (9-15, 7-7). Brandt Faivre (two hits), Ivan Stafford and Cole Shannon each drove in two runs in the victory.
Serena will play Somonauk in the IHSA Class 1A Hinckley-Big Rock Regional semifinals Wednesday.
Ottawa third, Marquette sixth at ICA Greg Easter Tournament
BARRINGTON – The Lady Pirates (19-6) went 3-1 for the tournament, while the Lady Crusaders (19-5) concluded their regular season by winning two of its four tournament games.
Lauren Carlson delivered a walk-off single to win Friday’s opener over Manteno, 2-1 in six innings. It was her second hit of the game, and Sloan Gayan struck out 11 over six innings to get the win.
Abby Bukantis struck out 11 batters in Friday’s second game, a 4-2 six-inning win against ICA No. 1-ranked Pontiac. Abi Claus had two hits in the victory.
After a 6-2 loss to Barrington to begin play Saturday, Gayan no-hit Dakota and struck out 15 in Ottawa’s 3-0 tournament-concluding victory. Jenna Nink homered and Molly Harris hit a two-run double for the Lady Pirates.

Marquette opened the tournament with a 5-1 win over Somonauk in six innings, with Aubrey McCallum and Makenna Tkach tallying two hits apiece. Ellen Wheatland drove in two runs. Tkach struck out 12 in the complete game win.
Tkach hit a walk-off single to give Marquette a 4-3 win over Herscher on Saturday. She struck out 11 in the pitcher’s circle and finished with two hits at the plate. McCallum added two hits as well.
The Lady Crusaders finished both days with losses: To Dakota in four innings Friday, 17-1, and to Whitney Young in four innings Saturday, 6-3.

Seneca 1, Saint Bede 0
SENECA – Seneca scored the only run of the game on an error in the second inning Friday and that was plenty for Anne Krull, who fired a five-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts. Maddy Klicker hit a pair of singles for the Lady Irish (29-5), who host an IHSA Class 2A Regional beginning with a semifinal contest Tuesday.
Streator 5, Plano 1
PLANO – Jadyn Hansen struck out 12 in a complete game victory Friday, allowing a hit and five walks in the contest. Anna Yanek hit a three-run home run and added a double for the Lady Bulldogs (16-7, 7-4), who won for the sixth consecutive game.
Serena 8, Hiawatha 6
SERENA – Susan Tuftie doubled and drove in two runs Friday, and Taylor Staton added a hit and two RBIs for the Lady Huskers (6-19, 5-9). Emma Holdiman added a single, a double and an RBI in the victory. Staton struck out five in the complete game victory.
Serena faces regional host Saint Bede to begin IHSA Class 1A postseason play Tuesday.
Ottawa 3, Streator 2
STREATOR – The Bulldogs swept singles play Friday, with Greg Rashid (6-0, 6-3) and Davey Rashid (6-2, 6-3) picking up victories. But the Pirates bounced back with three wins in doubles, led by a double-bagel win from Andrew Hancock and Tyler Olesen at No. 1 doubles. Sam Barron and Regan Linde (6-2, 6-0) and the duo of Matt Jackson and George Leon (7-6 , 6-2) also scored doubles wins for Ottawa.
Streator competes at Mendota Invite
MENDOTA – Greg Rashid finished second at No. 1 singles Saturday. Davey Rashid (No. 2 singles) and the pairing of Max Baker and Cooper Wahl (No. 2 doubles) each tallied fourth place finishes, and the No. 1 doubles duo of Jason Houch and Luke Elias placed sixth in their bracket.

Haerle lone medalist for Ottawa
LA SALLE – Kyle Haerle of Ottawa finished sixth in both the pole vault and the triple jump Friday at the NIB12 Championships at the La Salle-Peru Sports Complex. His points were the only ones of the meet for the Pirates, who placed 10th overall. Kaneland won the overall title.
