Reddick Library to try no-fine policy for late materials

Reddick Library in Ottawa has had amnesty periods for overdue fines. This summer, it’s going to see what happens when it doesn’t charge fines in the first place. Director Molly Debernardi says other libraries have gone no-fine.

She says those libraries report their overdue fines are replaced with donations. But if someone takes too long to return something, the library could still send the case to a collection agency.
