World War II veteran’s family receives his medals

The son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren of a World War II Pacific theater veteran have received nine medals he earned. Three more are back-ordered and Cong. Adam Kinzinger’s office is working on getting them.

Master Sergeant Eugene DeMaso died 30 years ago. He didn’t say much about what he did in the Army and Air Force. Miranda DeMaso is researching family history and would like something to pass on to her children about their grandfather.

Skip DeMaso says his father had scars on his arms, but he didn’t know why until his father became thin during his last years and shrapnel became visible. Miranda DeMaso says her father-in-law was the son of an immigrant from Italy, so for him to earn a dozen medals in a war zone speaks well of immigration.
