Marquette 11, Midland 3
DWIGHT – No. 1-seeded Marquette overcame three unearned runs in the second inning and a brief early deficit to defeat eighth-seeded Midland in the IHSA Class 1A Dwight Regional semifinals.
Haydon Price hit a three-run homer and drove in four runs for the Crusaders (27-1), Nate Melvin had two hits and two RBIs, and John Thompson (8-0) struck out three in a complete game victory. After going behind 3-1, Marquette answered with three runs in the bottom of the second and never trailed again.
Marquette will play for the regional championship Saturday at 11 a.m. on 1430 WCMY.
Somonauk 7, Serena 2
HINCKLEY – The sixth-seeded Huskers saw their season end in the IHSA Class 1A Hinckley-Big Rock Regional semifinals.
Ivan Stafford hit a solo home run and Connor Baker also drove in a run for Serena (9-16).
The third-seeded Bobcats will play Elgin Academy for the regional title Saturday.
Seneca 3, Wilmington 2
SENECA – Sam Grushkin allowed an earned run over 5 2/3 innings, and T.J. Van Ness got the final four outs as fifth-seeded Seneca held on to knock out No. 4 Wilmington in the IHSA Class 2A Seneca Regional semifinals.
Myles Mitchell hit a two-run single in the first inning, and the would-be winning run came home on Gage Cryder’s sacrifice fly in the third.
Grushkin (5-3) struck out eight in the victory, scattering four hits and seven walks.
Seneca (14-14) will play No. 6 Herscher for the regional championship Saturday. The Tigers upset No. 1 Beecher, 17-9.
Ottawa 4, Geneseo 3
OTTAWA – Alex Stevenson’s walk-off hit gave Ottawa (14-13, 7-5) its third straight win. The Pirates clinched at least a share of second place in the final NIB12 West standings.

OTTAWA – Sloan Gayan (18-6) tossed a four-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts, while Molly Harris (double), Zoe Harris (sacrifice fly) and Cassie Claus each drove in runs as the Lady Pirates (21-6, 8-4) won on Senior Day.

Rock Falls 7, Streator 6
ROCK FALLS – The Lady Rockets scored two runs in the seventh to rally for the victory.
Anna Yanek and Grace Schmitz each hit solo homers for the Lady Bulldogs (17-9). Ellie Magana doubled and drove in two runs in the loss.

Two State qualifiers for Streator
PLANO – Kobie Webb and Rafael Pantoja both scored runner-up finishes to qualify for State from the IHSA Class 2A Plano Sectional.
Webb was second in the long jump (22-4 1/2) to qualify in that event for the third consecutive year.

Pantoja was second in the 800-meter run (2:00.34) to reach State for the first time.

Streator placed 12th of 14 teams with 23 points. Providence Catholic won the Sectional title with 72 points.
