It’s too wet for sunflower fields at Matthiessen State Park

The massive amount of rain this spring is preventing the planting of the sunflower fields at Matthiessen State Park.

IDNR Natural Resources Coordinator Lisa Sons says the annual sunflower crop is meant to attract doves for hunting season.

The fields also attract tourists and photographers.

Sons says there are still many other natural wonders to explore at the park.
