Ottawa 6-1 La Salle-Peru

OTTAWA – Jacob Krueger scored twice for the Pirates (5-2, 1-1), while Mateo Mendez and Julio Mendez contributed a goal and an assist. Alonso Navarro and Lance Malmassari also found the net for Ottawa, and goalkeepers Ethan Fowler and Zach Nelson combined to allow only one goal.

Streator runs away with I-8 match


Marquette def. Somonauk, 25-9, 25-10

OTTAWA – Paige Cottingim served 11 points and Addie McConnaughhay finished with 10 points and five digs for the Lady Cruasders. Emma Thomas propelled the offense with 19 assists, while Aubrey McCallum had seven kills, Ellie Eager slammed down six kills, and Grace Jeanblanc and Ellen Wheatland tallied four kills apiece.

Marquette swept all three levels. The sophomores earned a 25-11, 25-15 victory behind 10 points from Johnna Clairmont, seven points from Eva McCallum, and 19 assists from Kaylee Killelea. Lindsey Kaufmann, Josie Eager and Izzy Garkey all recorded four kills in the win.

The freshman match was a 25-13, 25-12 Marquette victory. Ella Biggins and Darby Morganflash contributed eight points apiece, Sophia Flavin had 12 assists, and four players (Biggins, Eva McCallum, Lauren Machetta and Ava Creedon) posted two kills for Marquette.

MORRIS – Ottawa recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins at No. 1 singles with Sara Meyer, and at No. 1 doubles with Ella Marvel and Regan O’Fallon. Mary Riva added a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles, the duo of Marta Johnson and Rebekah Felty secured a 7-5, 0-6, 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles, and the No. 3 doubles team of Emily Walker and Mally Charbonneau contributed a 6-1, 6-2 win for the Lady Pirates (3-0, 2-0).

Ottawa claimed the JV dual, 4-1. Jenna Smithmeyer took the win at No. 2 singles, while the doubles pairings of Kyra Mitchell and Grace Satterfield, Olivia Long and Cora Siskwon, and Isabel Heimsoth and Madison Linebacker claimed wins in doubles play. Emma Walker and Emma Stumpf added an exhibition victory.


L-P co-op wins double dual

LA SALLE – La Salle-Peru/Ottawa/Streator/Earlville recorded a 58-44 win over Morris, and a 69-32 triumph against Pontiac.

Streator swimmer Cora Walker earned a runner-up finsih in the 500 freestyle (6:03.28), and also swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay (1:47.31) with L-P swimmers Nicole Pocivasek, Ashley Heagy and Peyton Heagy.

Ashley Heagy was first to the wall in the 200 Individual Medley (2:23.61) and the 500 freestyle (5:22.96). Peyton Heagy won the 100 freestyle (56.12) and 200 freestyle (2:01.57), and Nicole Pocivasek was first in the 50 freestyle (27.06) and second in the 100 backstroke (1:05.58). Earlville swimmer Paige Marks added a win in the 100 breaststroke (1:21.21), and joined the Heagy sisters and Pocivasek in the winning 200 medley relay (2:02.55).


Ottawa wins at Edgebrook Golf Course

SANDWICH – The Ottawa JV squad took 196 strokes against a Sandwich squad with only three golfers. Tyce Love shot a 43 and Michael Bruner carded a 48. Noah Stoudt followed with a 51, and Abi Claus recorded a personal-best 54.

Minooka 5, Shepherd 3

OTTAWA – Turner Love drove in two runs and Garrett Shymanski added an RBI for Shepherd (7-5). Alex Billings recorded nine strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings, with Minooka recorded five unearned runs in a tough-luck loss.

Monday, Shepherd lost to Channahon, 7-4.


Highland def. IVCC, 25-18, 24-26, 25-23, 29-27

FREEPORT – Princeton alum Kaylee Hammerich tallied seven kills and 16 digs for IVCC (1-6, 0-2). Hall graduate Gertie Savitch posted a team-best 23 digs, and Putnam County alum Kaitlyn Edgcomb led the Eagles with eight kills.

Ottawa grad Ashly Mauk finished with four kills.
