Helen Martha Waichunas Reynolds, 84, of Ottawa was called from this earth by the grace of God and entered her joyful eternity in Heaven on September 9, 2019.
Memorial Mass will be held at 11 am, Monday, September 16 at St. Patrick’s Church with Father Augustin Kassa and Deacon Ron Wackerlin officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 am, one hour prior to services, Monday at the church. Burial will be private.
Helen was born August 17, 1935 to Peter and Martha Waichunas of Lithuania. She married Brad “Guy” Reynolds on April 4, 1959; he passed away April 1, 2015. Helen was best known for teaching catechism classes at St. Francis School in Ottawa, and working at Handy Foods. She was a prayer warrior. Her favorite prayers were the Divine Mercy Chaplet and the Rosary. She had a special devotion to the Holy Souls in Purgatory. Helen loved to read, pray, attend bible study and share her Catholic faith.
She is survived by daughters, Christi Reynolds of Marseilles and Cynthia Reynolds of Rockford, son Bradley (Lynn) of Lisle, and grandchildren Elizabeth, Kimberly, and Bradley Reynolds Jr.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother Peter Waichunas, and sister Anne Ignatius.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Association.
