Man who pointed BB gun at police pleads guilty

A 19-year-old Ottawa man pleading guilty to pointing a realistic-looking BB gun at police at a Casey’s gas station in Leland in June was sentenced to just over two years of probation Friday.

Nicholas Bantista tried to get police to shoot him.

He later shot himself in the head with the BB gun before being arrested.

Bantista was also sentenced to 180 days in the LaSalle County Jail – which he already served with time off for good behavior.
