Mendota man charged with two smash-and-grab burglaries; police suspect him of many more thefts

Mendota police believe they’ve solved a series of smash-and-run burglaries. Fifty-four year old Craig J. Hynes of Mendota is charged with burglary.

Police say he was found carrying two framed pieces of sports memorabilia taken from the Infinite Selections Antique and Resale Shop Thursday morning. He was a block away from the store when arrested. Investigators then linked him to a burglary at Anderson Mosshart Clothing about an hour and 15 minutes earlier.

Police say Hynes’ method of operation is to throw rocks at a window and take what’s inside, and they’re looking into whether he committed dozens of other thefts recently.
