Habitat For Humanity volunteers’ work becomes very visible

Habitat For Humanity’s project on Ottawa’s south side is becoming visible. Volunteers started putting up the walls Saturday. Valerie McAvoy will live there when it’s done.

Habitat Executive Director Sally Van Cura says volunteers will be there every Saturday from 8am to 3pm until the home is done. People can go by the Catherine St. site, just north of McKinley School, on those days. Or they can contact Habitat For Humanity by telephone at 815-434-2041 or online at this link.

Construction Manager Robert Braem expects the roof trusses to arrive this coming week. But volunteers won’t be allowed to roof the house, because they would be more than six feet off the ground. Experienced roofers are welcome to help.
