Pedestrian access to be restored at former Central School track

People who want to use the former Central School track in Ottawa will be able to do it again on Monday. City Engineer Tom Duttlinger says the contractors preparing for environmental cleanup nearby are installing a pedestrian access gate. People will have to park at the west end of the upper lot on Woodward Memorial Dr.

Nicor and ComEd are paying for coal tar removal where the school used to be. Long before there was a school there, a predecessor company to Nicor and ComEd used coal to produce gas for street lighting at that riverfront site.
