Handy Foods and WCMY are participating in the 13th annual Freezin for a Reezin. The event benefits the Ottawa Community Food Pantry.
At the radio station, volunteers have been collecting checks. So far the event has raised $43,260. 35 as of mid-morning.
But at Handy Food’s, Shelley Threadgill says volunteers have been collecting canned fruits, vegetables, and other goods. She says the food is weighed and then separated into different groups.
Businesses are also trying to win the 500 meal challenge. They win the challenge if they donate 500 pounds of food.
