Ottawa FFA alumni and members announce the inaugural Pirate’s Treasure Livestock
Sale.
OTTAWA, Ill.- Ottawa FFA members are working diligently to plan the inaugural
Pirate’s Treasure Livestock Sale hosted by the Ottawa FFA Alumni.
The 1st Annual Pirate’s Treasure Livestock Sale will take place on March 23, 2024, at
Reel Livestock Center in Congerville, Ill. This sale has been created with the purpose of
providing a marketing outlet for livestock producers to sell their breeding stock. The
inaugural sale will focus on selling beef cattle with hopes to expand into selling other
species in future sales.
The sale will be student-run for them to gain skills to carry forward into any career they
wish to pursue. The sale not only provides a marketing opportunity to local producers,
but also gives students the experience of planning a sale, contacting consignors,
marketing, accounting, communication, and livestock management.
Members of the sale committee are seeking consignors within the community that are
looking for a production sale to market their open heifers, bred heifers, bred cows,
cow/calf pairs, and yearling bulls. Additionally, the sales committee is looking for
individuals and businesses who would like to sponsor the sale to help offset the cost of
merchandise, consignor gifts, refreshments, facility, and marketing.
