Fill-in underway at Knudson Park
People said they wouldn't miss the pit

The big pit at Knudson Park in Marseilles is being filled in. City Commissioner Jim Buckingham says the work started a month ago. Rain has slowed it down, but he hopes it’s done in another month.

He’s getting the dirt for free from a silt removal project on the Illinois and Michigan Canal. The city’s not paying extra for the labor either.

The pit was left after gasoline tanks were removed. The park’s designers thought it would be good for acoustics when bands played, but nobody seems to care for it.

His first thoughts of broadcasting as a career occurred to him at age five--when it was bed time and he realized the guy on the radio didn't have to go to bed yet. Some irony: for most of the time he's worked in radio, Rick has had to get up very early in the morning to be on the air, sometimes in addition to being up late at night like he wanted.
