St. Rep. Tom Demmer says more indictments announced today against former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan upend attempts to rebuild public confidence in the legislature. The Dixon Republican says Madigan faces 23 charges connected to just two other people. AT&T will pay $23 million as a fine for paying Madigan ally former St. Rep. Eddie Acevedo $22,500 to push legislation through the House. Demmer suggests it wouldn’t have happened if not for so much power in on person’s hands.
