CHICAGO (AP) — Jake Arrieta pitched two-hit ball into the seventh inning, Anthony Rizzo drove in four runs and the surging Chicago Cubs beat the Miami Marlins 10-2 last night for their season-high fifth straight win. Arrieta allowed two runs, struck out five and walked three in just his second win in the past month.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Avisail Garcia, Volmer Sanchez and Todd Frazier homered, helping the Chicago White Sox stop a five-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays last night. Chris Beck escaped a bases-loaded jam in the sixth inning to get the victory in relief of Jose Quintana.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Scooter Gennett hit four home runs, matching the major league record, and finished with 10 RBIs as the Cincinnati Reds routed the slumping St. Louis Cardinals 13-1 last night. Gennett became the 17th player to homer four times in one game.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Nneka Ogwumike had 20 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, and the Los Angeles Sparks beat the Chicago Sky 79-70 last night. Los Angeles was just 4-of-16 shooting in the third quarter, but scored on its first three possessions of the fourth for a 62-53 lead. Courtney Vandersloot scored 13 points and Allie Quigley added 12 for Chicago.
