ROUNDUP: Marquette Baseball no-hits Henry again, MA Softball stretches win streak to 7


Marquette 12, Henry-Senachwine 0 (5 innings)

OTTAWA – The Crusaders no-hit the Mallards for the second time in three days Thursday, with John Thompson (3-0) recording 11 strikeouts and allowing only a single walk.

Nate Melvin doubled twice and drove in three runs for Marquette (13-0, 6-0). Thompson, Haydon Price and Jay Scott each plated a pair of runs in the victory.

Seneca 12, Woodland/Flanagan-Cornell 0 (5 innings)

RURAL STREATOR – Seneca poured on 11 runs on 10 hits in the fifth inning Thursday, with Brayden Roe hitting a solo homer to lead off the frame and then following with a three-run shot later in the inning.

Gage Cryder (2-0) also homered in the big inning for the Fighting Irish (8-4, 5-0), and struck out nine WFC hitters in a complete game one-hitter.


Marquette 10, Henry-Senachwine 0 (6 innings)

OTTAWA – Addie McConnaughhay slugged two doubles and drove in two runs Thursday for the Lady Crusaders (9-2, 5-0), who won for the seventh straight game.

Hannah Cowie contributed a single and two RBIs for Marquette, and Makenna Tkach (6-2) fanned eight batters in a five-hit shutout.

Seneca 10, Woodland/Flanagan-Cornell 1

RURAL STREATOR – Abe Jashari tallied two hits, four RBIs and two stolen bases Thursday as Seneca (11-2, 6-0) won its third straight game.

Zoe Hougas added two hits and two RBIs, and Grace Flatness (6-1) struck out eight in a complete game victory.


Ottawa doubles up L-P


IVCC sweeps Highland

OGLESBY – IVCC won the opener Thursday, 11-3. Streator alum Brenna McCann had three hits and three RBIs at the plate, and also pitched a five-inning complete game. Ottawa graduate Bailey Simpson added a single, double and two RBIs, Streator graduate Lindsay Salata tallied two hits and an RBI, and another former Lady Bulldog, Shea Moritz, had a single and two RBIs in the win.

Marquette alum Maddie Dougherty earned the pitching win in the Eagles’ 10-4 victory in Game 2, and also finished with a single, double and two RBIs. Moritz drove in four runs with a single and a double, Simpson contributed three hits and an RBI, and McCann tallied a couple of hits for IVCC (11-5, 6-0).

GLEN ELLYN – Streator alums Justin Ainsley (1-6, 6-4, 10-3) and T.J. Moran (6-1, 7-6 [8]) were victorious in singles play Wednesday. Ainsley then won in doubles play with teammate Nolan Frank (8-5), while Moran teamed with Nathan Newman for an 8-3 win.
