Ottawa earns road victory

MORRIS – At Nettle Creek Golf Course, Drake Stoudt followed Cooper with a 39. T.J. McDonnell (41) and Kadon Harth (43) rounded out the scoring for Ottawa (2-2, 2-2).

Ottawa also won the JV match, 194-217. Michael Bruner took 44 strokes for the Corsairs, Tyce Love posted a 48, Hannah Dugan carded a 50 and Megan Bessett took 52 shots in the victory.


Ottawa 5, Rochelle 0

OTTAWA – The Lady Pirates dropped only five total games in the meet, with Mary Riva at No. 2 singles, and the No. 1 doubles pairing of Ella Marvel and Regan O’Fallon winning matches by a 6-0, 6-0 score. Sara Meyer at No. 1 singles, and the No. 3 doubles duo of Emily Walker and Mally Charbonneau earned 6-0, 6-1 wins. The No. 2 doubles team of Marta Johnson and Rebekah Felty rolled to a 6-3, 6-0 win.

Ottawa won the JV match by a 5-0 score as well. Singles players Kyleigh Olszewski and Jenna Smithmeyer each won her match 8-0, as did the No. 2 doubles team of Olivia Long and Isabel Heimsoth. Kyra Mitchell and Grace Satterfield took an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Emma Stumpf and Madison Linebacker teamed for an 8-4 win at No. 3 doubles.

Doubles pairings Emmy Walker and Emmy Taylor, Lily Mullins and Becca Rowher, and Smithmeyer with Summer Blazys won exhibition matches.

MAPLE PARK – The Pirates’ four-match winning streak ended in their Interstate Eight Conference opener. Ottawa is now 4-2 on the season, 0-1 in conference play.

Streator routs Wilmington


Marquette defeats Indian Creek

Prior to the varsity match, the Lady Crusaders split the JV matches.

Reed-Custer def. Streator, 25-10, 22-25, 25-12

STREATOR – Natali Haynes recorded eight kills and two blocks, Skyler Bedeker added four kills, and Leticia Cruz tallied 15 digs for the Lady Buldogs (3-6, 0-2).

Streator earned a 23-25, 25-18, 25-20 win in the sophomore match. Zoey Dearth pushed 12 assists and added three kills and three digs for Streator (4-1, 1-1). Hannah Rambo swung for 11 kills, Marissa Vickers added four kills, and Mia Wyatt contributed 10 digs and three aces in the win.

The Streator freshmen suffered a loss to fall to 0-3, 0-2 in conference play. Zoe Murphy had six kills, Leilani Zavada posted three kills, Ellie Isermann tallied two kills and two aces, and Kadence Ondrey swung for two aces.

Serena def. Somonauk, 25-17, 25-22

SOMONAUK – Lyla Thorpen finished with two kills, seven assists and eight digs as Serena (2-2, 1-0) won its Little 10 Conference opener. Lexi May recorded four kills, Katie Baker finished with four kills, two aces and three assists, and Kallie Cantlin and Paige Sexton added three kills apiece. Cheyenne Banister led the defense with nine digs.
