TUESDAY ROUNDUP: Marquette Volleyball wins at Hall


Marquette def. Hall, 25-21, 25-18

SPRING VALLEY – Grace Jeanblanc piled up 16 kills and two blocks for the Lady Crusaders, while Addie McConnaughhay contributed four aces, 10 service points and 21 digs.

Emma Thomas finished with 31 assist, Aubrey McCallum had 10 kills, and Ellen Wheatland tallied five kills in the victory.

Marquette swept all three levels Monday night.

Coal City def. Streator, 25-15, 25-21

STREATOR – Skyler Bedeker had seven kills, Anna Schmitz served four aces, and Leticia Cruz finished with eight digs for the Lady Bulldogs (5-23, 0-10). Jozie Cole contributed five assists and five digs in the loss.

Streator was swept for the evening, with the JV losing 25-17, 25-15, and the freshmen falling 25-22, 25-19.


Ottawa 5, Coal City 0

COAL CITY – Sara Meyer (6-2, 7-6 [4]) and Mary Riva (6-3, 2-6, 10-5) claimed singles wins for the Lady Pirates (11-0) in the team’s final head-to-head competition. Regan O’Fallon and Ella Marvel (6-0, 6-2), Mally Charbonneau and Emily Walker (6-0, 6-0), and the duo of Rebekah Felty and Bridget Stevenson (6-3, 6-1) were winners in doubles play for Ottawa.

Ottawa also won the JV competition, 5-0. Kyra Mitchell (8-4) and Madison Linebacker (8-6) won singles matches. Grace Satterfield and Olivia Long (8-4), Kyleigh Olszewski and Jenna Smithmeyer (8-1), and Isabel Heimsoth with Cora Sisk (8-5) won doubles matches.

HINCKLEY – Newark-Seneca will play Earlville in the championship match Thursday night at 7:30. The third-place match precedes it at 5:45 featuring Indian Creek and Serena.

OGLESBY – Ottawa alum Ashly Mauk had four kills and three digs for the Eagles (3-15, 0-7). Putnam County graduate Kailtlyn Edgcomb tallied 10 kills and 11 digs, Hall alum Gertie Savitch led the defense with 22 digs, and Princeton alum Kate Vigars pushed 22 assists and sered four aces in the loss.
