Shepherd opens season with wins

UNDATED − The eighth-grade Rams held off Channahon on Thursday night, 31-29. Dajuan Dawson tallied 14 points and 13 rebounds, Keevon Peterson chipped in seven points, and Jack Henson tallied six points and four steals for Shepherd.

The seventh-grade game went to Shepherd, 35-20. Julian Alexander stuffed the box score with 18 points, nine rebounds and six steals. Deklan Gage contributed six points and Jackson Mangold had four points for the Rams.

Wallace 5/6 off to solid start

UNDATED − Both the Wallace fifth- and sixth-graders are 3-1 on the season after wins over Marseilles on Wednesday night.

The Warrior fifth-graders scored an 18-12 win, with Lucas Craig and Easton DeBernardi scoring six points apiece. Wallace won the sixth-grade game as well, 29-15. Joey Liebhart tallied 13 points while Wyatt Stone and Mason Ruhland each contributed six points.

Statistics for Marseilles were not available.

On Tuesday, Wallace was swept by LaSalle Lincoln, 25-9 in the sixth-grade game, and 21-9 in the fifth-grade game that saw Wallace play the Lincoln sixth-grade B-squad. Brennan McNally led the Warrior 6’s with five points and Stone had the other four points. Craig and DeBernardi scored four points apiece for the Wallace 5’s.

On Monday, Wallace rolled past Morris ICS twice. The Warrior 5’s won 53-0 behind 12 points from Craig and 10 points from Logan Cottingham. The sixth-grade game was a 30-10 Wallace victory, with McNally scoring 10 points and Liebhart finishing with eight points.

Last week, Wallace won its openers over Serena, 17-8 in the fifth-grade game and 28-16 in the sixth-grade contest. Craig and Billie Besse tallied six points each for the Wallace 5’s, while Stone led the Warrior 6’s with eight points. McNally, Liebhart and Austin Ferracuti each finished with six points for the Wallace sixth-graders.
