The Champlain St. bridge work scheduled for this week is done. Ottawa City Hall says the contractor finished installing steel beams to support water lines under the bridge Wednesday. The contractor doesn’t need to return Thursday. So, the bridge is open again to motor vehicles.
The pedestrian walkway is still closed though. It’s been closed since August because of deterioration underneath it. City Commissioner Marla Rodriguez says it’s in the waiting for repairs in the spring. People walking on the sidewalk there have had to carefully walk in the traffic lane to cross Goose Creek and get to the sidewalk on the other side.
