MILWAUKEE (AP) — Giannis Antetokounmpo had 38 points and 15 rebounds, Eric Bledsoe added a season-high 31 points and eight assists and the Milwaukee Bucks countered another historic night by Chicago rookie Coby White to beat the Bulls 124-115. White shot 5 of 8 from 3-point range in the first half, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to hit five 3-pointers in consecutive games. The 19-year-old seventh overall pick in the 2019 draft finished with 26 points, including six 3-pointers.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — There’s a strong argument to be made that the Chicago Bears ended the Rams’ two seasons of offensive brilliance with their 15-6 victory at Soldier Field last season. With Chicago employing a formation that was copied by many of the Rams’ ensuing opponents, Jared Goff threw a career-high four interceptions while the Rams were held without a touchdown for the first time in Sean McVay’s tenure. The Rams get a shot at revenge when the Bears visit the Coliseum this weekend.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Pitcher Jake Odorizzi accepted a $17.8 million qualifying offer to stay with the Minnesota Twins and first baseman José Abreu took the same amount to remain with the Chicago White Sox as general managers headed home following their four-day annual meeting. Using the threat to accept San Francisco’s offer, reliever Will Smith became the first of the 168 free agents to switch teams, agreeing to a $40 million, three-year contract with the Atlanta Braves.
CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) — Taylor Jones had 24 points and nine rebounds, and No. 7 Oregon State exploited a significant height advantage to beat No. 18 DePaul 98-77 in the semifinals of the Preseason WNIT. Jones, a 6-foot-4 freshman, scored the Beavers’ first eight points and added three blocks. She scored 15 first-half points, helping OSU take a 46-31 lead at the break. Kennedy Brown, a 6-6 freshman, had nine of her 13 points in the first half for the Beavers.
