Private promoter wants to handle Ottawa’s wine and jazz festival

Ottawa City Hall won’t manage this year’s Wine and Jazz Festival, the Brewfest, or the Oktoberfest. Mayor Dan Aussem says Lou Dog Events, which has done the Brewfest in the past, will do all three.

He says the city wasn’t doing well money-wise for running the Wine and Jazz Festival. But Lou Dog Events will handle it without any risk to the city. The company will pay the city to set up picnic tables. Then, the company will handle staffing and garbage removal.

The City Council put the contract on file this week.
