IVCH asking for donations of protective gear ahead of coronavirus surge

Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru is asking for donations of protective gear likes masks and gloves in preparation for an influx of coronavirus patients.

Community Relations and Marketing Director Joan Fernandez says they have enough for now, but that could change rapidly.

Items needed are Nitrile or vinyl gloves, hard plastic safety eye wear, hair covers, eye shields, alcohol wipes, N95 facemasks, plastic gowns, shoe covers, unopened bleach and brown paper lunch bags – to store N95 masks.

Donations can be dropped off at the receiving dock at the hospital off Plum Street.

The hospital isn’t taking homemade cloth masks that some people are putting together for other types of facilities.
