If you have lunch bags that you don’t need, the Meals on Wheels program would like to have them. Voluntary Action Center Community Relations Manager Barbara Nadeau says the program needs lots of bags to deliver lots more meals than it used to. When the advice started coming to not have large gatherings that could easily spread the corona virus, Voluntary Action Center closed its dine-in locations.
Carry-out was tried, but Nadeau says it didn’t work out. Many clients were put on home meal delivery instead.
That means using about 100 more lunch bags every day than before. They can be donated to the Voluntary Action Center at its office or the Meals on Wheels locations in Ottawa, Streator, and LaSalle. Or call 815-883-3630 to find out more.
